Application:

This application is the metering and mixing of 2K urethane adhesive and supplying it to a high-speed film laminating machine that is making multi-layer films for the packaging industry.

Material Used:

Two-component, 100 solids, urethane adhesive

Equipment/Solution:

The equipment is dependent upon the material’s physical characteristics.  In this case, the urethane material can be varied between 1:1 and 4:1 ratio, A to B.  It has a viscosity of about 15,000 centipoises.  The materials are supplied in 55-gallon closed head drums.  The equipment is a Vario-Mix 1A-L1, Variable Ratio Positive Displacement Proportioning system (VM1AL1) that includes the following:

1 - Variable Ratio Vario Mix 1A with two metering cylinders
1 - Ratio monitor Unit
2 – Heated Material supply tanks
1 – 2 component mix gun kit with disposable mixers and 90° nozzle
2 - Pump feed kits for supplying material to the Vario Mix metering unit
All hoses, fitting and pneumatic controls
Horizontal barrel racks, interconnecting barrel hoses and desiccant driers
