Type of User:
Copper or fiber optic cable manufacturer
Application:
Multiple strands of wire are twisted together (typically around a center core) to form a cable. The cable then passes through a die where it is filled with a sealant or waterproof material. The cable fill material is pumped from a 55-gallon drum into the die. Some customers require flow control tied to the line speed of the cable machine.
Material Used:
Hot melt cable fill material manufactured by companies such as Cas Chem, Unigel, National Starch, and Henkel
Equipment/Solution:
Configured TOF 200 with heated fluid hose and automatic heated dispense valve.
Gear Pump Metering Unit with variable flow control.
Options for flow control are the air-operated mastic regulator or the heated PrecisionFlo LT.
Either option requires an electric signal from the line to control the regulator, the PrecisionFlo LT, or the Gear Metering Unit.
